I have been involved in the local church as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Preacher Search Team Member, Deacon, Church Planter, and got burned, not unlike many other people. I discovered I was just "going" to church, and not "being" the church, and believe me there is a huge difference. I have learned a lot through the process, mainly to pursue God, not church, not religion, and not identity.
I have to be honest, that paragraph was written by my friend Tony. I changed a couple of words to fit me just a little better, but in the end it was just to good and described my situation perfect.
Thru the years I have been involved in many great organizations. It would always start with a individual or group of people that caught fire about something. That flame would burn thru them and spread to everyone that was around them. I was always inspired by the groups that just wanted to help someone. They did not do it for the glory or recognition, they were just kind people. That is what I wanted to be around, real people who where kind to others!
That trip was more difficult than I thought it would be. I found out that I loved my self a lot and it can be difficult to put other people first. I am just being honest with you. I am motivated by the words of Jesus Christ. Love your God with all your heart and love your neighbors as yourself. Have you ever tried to put your neighbors first?
A few of my dear friends and I thought we would put this to the test. We would try and put our neighbors first. We would help people with transportation. This was a perfect place for me to start. My vocation is in the automotive industry. We would try to help someone achieve the transportation they needed to take care of life's basic needs. Thats where we are at now, telling you our story. Wish us luck.
To end, I just need to make sure that you understand that we are doing this for a genuine reason. We want to help people. God is putting things in place so this can happen. Just you volunteering to help me with our cause tells me that Gods is in it. I cant do justice with this letter. I would love to sit down with you and tell you my story, where we have been and where we are going.
Thanks for you time,
Kirk McEwen
