Q: Why donate to JoyRide?
A: We are not a for profit company. We are a 501 (C) (3) non-profit transportation charity. All the vehicles we receive go straight to a family in need. Your cash gifts go to helping a family pay for the repair of their current vehicle or we use it for the expenses of the car we give away. Some of those expenses are towing, mechanical repairs or insurance cost. Remember all of your donations are tax deductible. You can even deduct the full fair market value of your donated car since we give it to a family. Like always please check with your tax professional.
Q: Will there be any cost to me?
A: No. JoyRide will pay for all the cost associated with donating your vehicle.
Q: What can I donate?
A: Cars, vans or trucks, as long as you have clear title and the vehicle is whole (not stripped of doors, hoods, etc.) Just remember that we are going to give this vehicle to a family. We need to evaluate the donation against the cost to make it safe and reliable. We want to make sure that we are responsible with all the donations we receive. We also accept cash to help out with other automotive expenses.
Q: Can I donate a vehicle that hasn’t run in years?
A: To be honest, it depends. See the above question and answer.
Q: How do I donate?
A: We have a paypal account that you can donate on. Just click on the donate icon. You can shoot me a email to donate cash or check if you prefer. My email is kirk@jride.org.
Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
A: Donations to JoyRide are tax-deductible, but as with all questions pertaining to your specific tax situation, you should consult your tax-advisor.
Q: Who can I contact with other questions?
A: You can contact Kirk McEwen at kirk@jride.org.
Q: How can I apply for assistance?
A: We are still new. Until we get the hang of this, JoyRide will work with families refereed to us by other non-profit and social agencies. This will give us time to learn from the pros. This may change, but for now we feel this is the most responsible course of action. If you need help, you can contact us and we will try to get you hooked up with a local organization. We will then work with that non-profit to see where we can help you. We still want to know your story so drop us a line at kirk@jride.org.
